Permit Feasibility, Monitored Locations, and an upcoming conference: Spark AI April Updates

Your monthly product roundup for April 2026

Hi Sparkers,

Happy May! April showers bring May flowers — and a whole lot of changes at Spark! We’re continuing to automate pieces of the permitting process, and we’ve released key changes that get us closer to that goal.

Additionally, we’ll be at the Data Center Expo in San Jose, CA, in two weeks! We’d love to meet up if you’re in town; let us know, or pick a time here.

⚖️ Major Change: Permit Feasibility

The biggest change this month was a rehaul of how we show local sentiment. We’ve revamped the ‘scoring’ system to incorporate past project activity and decisions from local authorities. These changes precisely show how feasible a permit is for a project in a given Authority Having Jurisdictions (AHJ).

You can now drill into the four factors behind each score, with references, links, and red-flag warnings

You can also run Reports on specific projects — solar, BESS, data centers, or wind — and specify the capacity of your project. Specific searches will provide the results most relevant to you:

🗺️ Parcel & Zoning Details

We've also redesigned parcel details and zoning insights. You'll now see parcel info, permitted uses and requirements, key zoning definitions, and full zoning code details — all in one organized view specific to your project type.

🔔 Updated Monitored Locations

We received very positive feedback on the release of Monitored Locations, which alert you when something changes in the AHJs of your choice. This month, we updated the alerts feed to include more granular insight into precise changes:

You can also click into an AHJ’s history to see how the AHJ has evolved:

As always, we'd love to hear what you think. Please let us know if there’s anything you’d like to see within Spark. You can reach us by replying directly to this email or grabbing time with our team.

Thank you! Until next time,

The Spark AI Team
